SLAB-JACKING
What is it?
Slab-jacking
is commonly referred to as "MUDJACKING" and is mainly used
in the field to raise sections of sidewalks that have settled, causing
tripping hazards.
When settlement
occurs, (usually attributed with improper sub-grade compaction, sub-grade
washout, or sub-grade settlement) holes are strategically drilled
into the concrete to allow for the injection of a structural grout
under hydraulic pressure to fill voids, then raise your existing concrete
back to the original grade and level without the costs or disruptions
associated with removal and replacement.
EXAMPLE:
Assuming a
30' x 30' (900 square feet) school classroom floor is sunken 2 inches,
with vinyl tile or carpet. Removal and replacement would consist of:
finding a way to effectively shut down this classroom for upwards
of one week, remove the floor, deliver and install a new mechanically
compacted stone base, place your reinforcement materials, place and
finish your concrete, allow the proper curing time before installing
your tile or carpet, all at a cost exceeding $10,000.00.
OR
Call a qualified
Slab-Jacking Contractor who can drill strategically placed holes,
set up his equipment outside of the building, pump grouting materials
inside via an open classroom window, stabilize and bring back to the
proper grade and level the classroom floor all within one working
day at cost of less than half of the removal and replacement cost
reflected above. Perhaps a job well done on a Saturday when there
is no school or children to disrupt. Nice!
